For all you mobile freelancers who dislike time tracking as much as I do, but know it’s the only way to bill your clients and determine how to accurately estimate future projects, thus equaling more $$ in your pocket, I found a great solution. It’s called Harvest Time Tracking and after searching a ton of sites I believe it’s the most cost-effective and user-friendly product out there. I use it for time tracking, invoicing, reports and estimating. The coolest thing is you can text in your expenses and even start/stop time from your phone (via your twitter feed). The solo plan is around $12/mo, about as cheap as a my netflix plan
. Check it out, it seriously rocks, there’s a 30-day free trial period, but careful because you’ll get hooked.

Last weekend marked the 8th annual San Diego Film Festival. The festival was a unique mix of engaging, award-winning films.
Including over 85 features, shorts, documentaries and music videos from around the world, all of which were San Diego or U.S. premieres. Most screenings were followed by live question and answer sessions with the filmmakers and cast in attendance. Appearances by actors: James Van Der Beek, William Shatner, Richard Dreyfuss, and Barry Pepper.
One of the films I was able to watch was, “Official Rejection“, a hilarious but realistic portrayal of an independent filmmaker’s journey through the film fest process. And specifically the demystification of how one breaks into the infamous Sundance. To be honest the film was a little on the long-side but besides that the audience was definitely tickled and intrigued.
If you missed this year’s fest, start anticipating next year and below is a list of upcoming film fests going on in San Diego. If you know of anymore please feel free to add it in the comment section below:
San Diego Asian Film Foundation – Oct 15-29, 2009
San Diego Black Film Festival – January 28-31, 2010
San Diego Latino Film Festival – March 11- 21, 2010

I found this bumper sticker this morning as I was walking across the street to my neighbor’s house. Have you ever looked up the definition and origin of “ghetto“? Interesting how words evolve.

This is a great viral piece, it puts water usage in perspective and makes me feel even more responsible for our great planet. Water awareness, pass it on!

If you’re a loyal Nike brand lover or you just admire that long-standing tagline “Just Do It”, than you’ll love this up close and personal event we shot with Nike brand creator Dan Wieden of Wieden + Kennedy. Here’s a teaser of the evenings event, the full version will be syndicated on SD AD Club’s site soon. What an amazing, humble, honest, yet hardcore individual.

This week I have the pleasure of hosting one of the Social Media Blog Carnivals from NMLab.com. First off, I have to say how impressed I am with all the social media-ites coming out of Austin, Texas. Keep it up guys, I think you’re all amazing and can’t wait to visit.
After wading through the submissions, here are the best from June 8-15, 2009.
3) Google Squared Goes Live, Formats Your Searches Into a Spreadsheet
Another great tool from Google Labs. This search tool helps you quickly build a collection of facts from the web for any topic you specify. This potentially could be a great quick resource tool for students.
2) Social Media a Blessing for Small Business and a Curse for Corporation?
This is a great article to share with clients, specifically those who are unsure about embarking into the social media world. Best thing about this article is when it talks about interactive participation. In order for your brand to really become something great you’ve got to interact with people not just try and sell them something.
1) Acronyms to use on Gatorpeeps and Twitter
I enjoyed this post the best because I haven’t heard of Gatorpeeps yet and it inspired me to check it out. Not sure how it will hold up against our beloved Twitter but I just love that name and I’m a sucker for animal logos.
To check out next week’s carnival go to the Blog Carnival site.
